Just in catch up mode here after three weeks of holiday travel in Europe. Gee life moves by fast when you're away from your desk, but I'll hope to catch up with it all soon.
This is me at the top of Zugspitz, Germany's highest mountain - one that it shares with Austria, but just now I'm standing on the German side. You can't actually see me clutching the rail as I have a terrible head for heights, but this and the ride down in the cable car were challenging but well worth it.
However, I guess its time to get over holiday mode and into reality mode. Core Education for whom I work, are gearing up to their biggest conference of the year that starts next week. We have nearly 1800 attendees this year so the logistics have been mind blowing, but I know it will be a great conference.
Conferences, regional workshops, online resources and support for our clusters of schools involved in a three year contract for ICT professional development, form the main basis of my work. I have 22 clusters of primary schools currently located in both the North and South Islands of New Zealand so I do quite a bit of traveling. I love it because I get the chance to see teachers change their view of the world and what their students are going to need to prepare them for the present and on into the future. I'm looking forward to extending that to work with the PLP programme over the next year.
There are lots of online areas where I work and I'm happy to share those with the group. Our ICT PD programme has its own online area, parts of which are open to anyone with interests in education. Last year we held our own online conference on the theme of Web 2.0 and this can be accessed at http://time4online.org.nz and this year our theme was Innovation - in leadership, community and implementation and is available at http://time4innovation.org.nz
I have lots of wikis - usually create one at workshops that I run so that people can see how easy and useful they are, and so that I can share resources and ideas. My favourite one is http://thinkingworkshop.wikispaces.com and you can access many of the others from there.
I have an irregularly updated blog at http://jillhammondsedblog.blog.co.nz - I figure I should run a blog rather than it running me so I add to it only when I have time or something to say - I often have more of the latter than the former LOL.
Core Education have a website and areas of that can be accessed at http://core-ed.net
Well, that's enough time spent away from today's real "to do" list so had better get back to it.
